Recent media and education community attention has spotlighted the need to address a pervasive behavioral challenge in U.S. schools: bullying behavior. Critical to successful intervention is a broad and comprehensive approach that requires proactive involvement of all adults and students within the school. This webinar will provide an overview of how to effectively embed strategies to address bullying behavior through schoolwide positive behavior supports. The specific strategies to be discussed concern: a) addressing bullying behavior on the part of individual students, b) supporting "victims" of bullying behavior, and c) the role of all students in implementing this approach.
- Understand the roles of students who bully and the roles that those who are victims, and those who are bystanders, play in reinforcing bullying behavior.
- Understand the need to create comprehensive multi-point interventions.
- Apply knowledge learned to using assessment data to build prevention and intervention strategies into their schoolwide positive behavior support strategies.
