A fundamental reality of implementing the Common Core State Standards in an RTI environment is that it requires a shared responsibility and an integrated teaching approach among educators. This recording discusses how teachers and speech language pathologists (SLPs) can work together within an RTI framework to help students in all classrooms access and meet the Common Core State Standards (CCSS). Standards that focus on the four language domains of listening, speaking, reading, and writing will be addressed. Although this recording focuses on elementary school grades (K-5), the principles presented are applicable to all grade levels and emphasize collaborative efforts among practitioners.After viewing this program, you will be able to:
- Explain educationally significant connections between RTI instructional models and the CCSS.
- Identify ways teachers and SLPs can work together to implement the CCSS within an RTI framework.
- Provide examples of tiered-based instructional activities that align with the CCSS.
